My name is Justin Currie and I am seeking representation for an in-progress graphic novel project: Spark Chasers.

Spark Chasers is a 200 page fantasy epic inspired by RPG video games and their accompanying strategy guide publications. The books layout and content mimics that of a classic RPG strategy guide but with a heavy focus on story rather than game mechanics, giving the reader the narrative experience on an epic 60+ hour game distilled into in an evening of reading. Featuring all the classic RPG tropes, including airships, fire and ice levels, deep dark dungeon crawls, side quests, and secret areas. The back of the book also features a full bestiary, character sheets and concept art. This project is inspired by Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8, 9 video-games and Avatar: The Last Airbender series.

Plot Synopsis
The Spark Chasers follows Kella, a villager with dreams of adventuring, stuck in a sleepy mountain town. The sudden arrival of a mechanical alien race controlled by a villainous knight Tellos triggers the awakening of dormant magic right under Kella’s feet and she finds herself the bearer of a magical energy known as a “Spark”.

Kella must set off across the kingdom in a race to collect the other four elemental “Sparks” before the mysterious alien threat Tellos, can use them to destroy her world. Along the way, she finds new friends to aid in her quest including: a lost prince, a foul mouthed pirate thief and even a rebooted robot turned ally. Together they must search the land, sea, skies and eventually even the stars to find out Tello’s true intent for the Sparks and their world.

A lighthearted epic of friendship and adventuring mired with elements of classic games. Below are some sample pages and in-progress storyboards of the book. The artwork featured in this project is using the “isometric” grid, just like an actual classic game would use for art assets. Full outline, script and storyboard are complete and available upon request.

Spark Chasers is on track to be completed for first quarter of 2023, currently planned to be launched on Kickstarter. After which it would then be Chasing Artwork’s featured product on a 20+ North American comic convention tour, including the San Diego, New York, Seattle, and Toronto trade shows.
